The Nine Island Refuge by Guimar Urbina Interiors

This project will always be memorable—not only for its location and design, but also for the special connection with my clients. From our very first meeting (where we even arrived wearing the same colors!) it felt like destiny. That alignment set the tone for the entire design journey.

At Guimar Urbina Interiors, we believe every project is more than a transformation of space—it’s about creating an experience. For Nine Island, our vision was clarity, warmth, and elegance, all while embracing the natural light and breathtaking views of Belle Isle.

The design process lasted about eight weeks, during which we carefully developed every area of the residence: living and dining rooms, kitchen, laundry, bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets. Every detail was considered—from ceiling and lighting design, flooring, and finishes, to custom window treatments, wallcoverings, cabinetry, fixtures, and furniture.

Beyond design, we managed the administrative side, including city permits (which can take up to eight weeks) and coordinating estimates with trusted general contractors. Once approved, construction and installation moved forward, bringing the project to life in just five months from start to finish.

Elegant living areas with white sofas and subtle chromatic touches, paired with integrated media features to create modern comfort zones.

Vibrant dining rooms featuring velvet chairs in orange and red hues, complemented by curated artwork, emphasizing contrast and personality.

Bright and functional kitchens, with white cabinetry, natural wood shelving, and fresh green seating accents.

Master Bedroom in soft, neutral palettes, enriched with textures, statement lamps, and accent walls for warmth and intimacy.

The result is a residence that balances island tranquility with the vibrancy of city life—an interior reflecting modern elegance, natural harmony, and personal soul. What made it extraordinary was not only the design outcome, but also the trust and creative freedom my clients gave me.

This home now stands as a testament to intention, care, and collaboration—proof that when destiny and design meet, the results are truly magnificent.
