I am pleased to present a recently completed interior design project in the city of Coral Gables, FL.
The design journey began in August of 2020, when dear clients of mine made the move to Florida from Boston, Massachusetts. Before contracting Guimar Urbina Interiors, the clients had purchased all new furniture for the home that they later disliked and regretted. This prompted them to make the decision and hire a professional. That is where I came in with my services.
The process was very inspirational for me. From the very beginning, I was able to determine exactly what the clients wanted and what the home needed. I find it especially important to examine the existing architecture of homes. This home had many elements working in our favor including over twelve-foot height ceilings, large windows with an abundance of natural light coming in, and natural stone flooring. On the other hand, there were elements that needed updating such as all the interior illumination and the repositioning of air conditioning vents.
The first stage of the design consisted of selecting and quoting furnishings, developing three-dimensional renderings, and sourcing labor with the general contractor. This stage took approximately six weeks to complete. By the first of October, we finished designing the entire home and had the client’s approval on all the selected furnishings, which also included window treatments, mill-work, and lighting. The timeline was particularly important considering these items take anywhere from three to five months to create and install.
Despite working on this project during the pandemic where we struggled with setbacks and delays at every step, we were able to execute the vision perfectly.
